Eventides (Guitar)

This is free music. You can download the sheet music (PDF) or download the MuseScore source file.

The guitar was my first musical love. Classical ensembles, Rock groups, Jazz Bands Big and Small... I had the opportunity to play this versatile instrument across genres and with many artists. The guitar holds a special place in my heart and writing Eventides is an opportunity to express my passion for the instrument in a vibrant tune.

Rhythm in the Lead Role

Much like my last published song, Eventides's rhythm is heavy on the off-beats. The syncopes on sixteenth-notes bring some complexity and are convenient to play with the guitar's classic arpeggio technique:

The opening showcases the song's core rhythmic patterns.

From the chorus: the syncopated melody and the more straightforward baseline dance around each other.

Playing to the Guitar's Strength

Another classic element of the guitar is its' phantastic range. The song's B-part shifts register to the guitar's upper bars. "Open" base notes are easy to play and give the music a large tonal span from bass to treble.

The guitar makes tonal range very easy; as long as you only need E and A in the bass.

Make your own music

The sheet music is designed with minimal directions for the performer (dynamics/tempo/etc.). This intentional decision enables creative freedom; how to breath life into the piece when playing. Make it your own.
